A fabulous chronograph from the late 1990s, the El Primero ‘De Luca’ was originally named ‘Les Classiques’. However, Zenith gave this collection the name ‘De Luca’ in honour of the chief agent for Italy at the time (named De Luca). The success of Zenith in Italy throughout the 1990s was staggering – their watches coveted for the impeccable El Primero movement, widely considered among the best on the market. The De Luca was introduced around 1988, and had since undergone subtle design enhancements throughout the coming decade. This reference features a Mark III dial, characterised by its lollipop hands and dotted indices. Its white dial and black recessed subdials are a timeless combination, housed in a 40mm stainless steel case.

The later use of the El Primero movement in the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona speaks to the quality and high precision of these incredible De Luca models. Firmly under-the-radar, and presenting excellent value for money, this rare treasure from the late 1990s is a dependable, attractive watch designed for the everyday. Of only 675 pieces produced (until 1996), this particular reference was the very last of the De Luca models in circulation. This example remains in very good original condition and is accompanied by its original packaging, booklets, spare links and guarantee dated 28/02/1998.
