What was happening in 1974?

1974 was quite a year.

The Ford Mustang II arrived, ABBA won Eurovision with Waterloo, and The Godfather Part II was released. On the roads, the Porsche 911 was already becoming an icon, while the world of motor sport was entering an exciting new era.

In Britain, Harold Wilson returned as Prime Minister, the first commercial Concorde flights were just around the corner, and the country was experiencing the uncertainty of the oil crisis and the three-day working week.

And somewhere in 1974, this Rolex left the world of the factory and began its own journey.

Fifty-two years later, it is still looking remarkably good.
