Rolex Submariner 'Hulk' 116610LV (2017)
Following the success of the somewhat infamous green bezel on Rolex's 'Kermit' Submariner, the brand soon introduced a combination of green which would change the Submariner forever. Rapidly, the appropriately named 'Hulk' ascended to the stratosphere of Rolex collecting, remaining one of the most desirable and recognisable Rolex watches on the market. Introduced to the Rolex catalogue in 1953, the Submariner soon became one of Rolex’s most iconic releases- praised for its robust and utilitarian design and worn by some of Hollywood's most famous exports in Steve McQueen and Roger Moore's James Bond. Its breath-taking combination of glossy black and steel is one which has been heavily admired for 65 years and will continue to thrive in years to come.
Its design, while timeless, has been modified in recent years to incorporate different colourways. The 'Hulk' was arguably the pioneer of a new wave of contemporary Submariners to command a greater presence on the wrist. This particular 116610LV reference from 2017 is Rolex's most recent variation of the revered 'Hulk'. While the green bezel, black dial 'Kermit' variation was revived in a new line of 41mm Submariners, the all-green favourite was omitted from the 2020 series. This model incorprates a stunning green ceramic bezel and luscious green dial to match. It is accompanied by a complete set of original inner and outer packaging, hang-tags, booklets, receipts and guarantee card dated 2017. Becoming all the more collectable following its discontinuation, there is never a better time to invest in one of Rolex's true greats.
