Rolex Sea-Dweller Ref. 1665 'Great White'

Considered a more serious diving instrument to its world-famous sister, the Submariner, the Rolex Sea-Dweller can accompany its wearer to even greater depths. It's helium release valve is a notable addition to this model released in the new millenium. While retaining many of the iconic design elements of the Submariner, the Sea-Dweller does not feature the 'cyclops' lens above the date window, instead opting for a cleaner display.
This example is indeed very special. In 1977, Rolex altered the design of both the Submariner and Sea-Dweller through removal of the red writing on the dial to indicate the model name. Prior to this, the Sea-Dweller was released under two names: the 'Sea-Dweller' and the 'Submariner 2000'. This 1665 reference marks the first instance where the Submariner name was abandoned entirely in favour of the Sea-Dweller name, along with any red text. As the first entirely monochrome Sea-Dweller produced, the 1665 reference earned its 'Great White' nickname among the Rolex faithful.
The 1665 reference is revered among collectors as the watch which established the Sea-Dweller as its own entity- removing its ties to the Submariner. This example is in stunning original condition, showing slight aging on the lume to a creamy patina. Undoubtedly a perfect investment opportunity.
