Omega Speedmaster ‘Speedy Tuesday’ Limited Edition
The Omega Speedmaster ‘Speedy Tuesday’ Limited Edition, unique to 2012 pieces, was released in 2017 as a celebration of Omega’s passionate community and ever-growing online presence. This particular model was the first to be made available exclusively through the brand’s website, selling out in a record time of just 4 hours, 15 minutes and 43 seconds.
In many ways revolutionary, this version of the Speedmaster was designed strategically for the wrists of passionate fans of the legendary Moonwatch. The popular ‘reverse panda’ radial dial of 1966 both invites a fresh new look of sharp contrasts while paying homage to popular designs of the past. Turning over the watch reveals several unique case back engravings encircling the famous seahorse medallion, including ‘SPEEDY TUESDAY ANNIVERSARY- A TRIBUTE TO ALASKA PROJECT III’ as well as this watch’s limited edition number, 1453/2012.
The story of ‘Speedy Tuesday’ dates back to 2012 in Cannes, when Robert-Jan Broer posted a photograph of one of his Speedmasters to his social media page. His subsequent use of ‘#SpeedyTuesday’ elicited such positive feedback from fans of Omega that Robert decided to make this a weekly event. Six years on, fans from all over the world engage in this weekly online event, where pictures of Speedmasters are routinely shared and admired. The Speedy Tuesday Limited Edition marks the 5th Anniversary of this famous hashtag, with Omega releasing a re-edition of the famous Speedmaster Alaska project from 1978 in tribute.
This particular watch numbered 1453/2012 is complete with its leather travel pouch, secondary exclusive ‘Speedy Tuesday’ NATO strap, strap-fitting instrument, cleaning cloth, booklets, packaging and guarantee dated 22/5/18.
