Buren Grand Prix “Dirty Dozen” WWW wristwatch.
Commissioned by the MOD in 1945, the twelve watch companies approached to fulfil the specification needed to ensure that their “Watch, Wrist (let) Waterproof” showed subsidiary seconds at “6”, had Tritium lume and waterproofing to 30m.
Interestingly, Buren is the only one of the twelve to feature script on the dial in addition to the company name – “Grand Prix” lending a sporting touch to an otherwise classic piece of military utilitarianism. Note also the design of the numeral “4”. Typical “train track” chapter ring, sword hands with no lume loss, stainless steel and chromed case with slight wear and leather strap.
